Rusty, the 53 Dodge

Post by Reb Stew on February 6th 2015, 3:11 pm

Did some trading around on some work with Wilder Creation's shop and ended up with ol' Rusty. Not sure what the plans are yet or if there will be any. Spring time will tell.

Is that not the ugliest truck anyone has ever made. It didn't get hit with the ugly stick the whole ugly tree fell on it. It's so ugly someone has to love it why not Hilltop Hot Rods?

Now THAT is cool! I totally dig this...really do. I'd stuff a 340 or 360 into it, Keystones or slots, a nice dark green shade with a white cab top and a parchment interior to match. REALLY cool pickup, Steve.

Found out it's not a 51 it's a 1953. The truck has no title so I'm in the middle of trying to get that stuff fixed. If all goes well she should be sitting on a budget built S10 frame here soon.

They have a few of that style Dodge out at Stark's. I remember going thru them looking for the speaker grilles. Probably not much there that's usable but it might be worth the trip. Thinking of going over to Modoc here soon to look for some Fairmont/Fairlane parts. Let me know if you're buying breakfast.

Nice to hear of the update, Steve. Keep us posted...I really dig this old rig and the S-10 update will be sweet for sure. Cool Have you given any more thought to what you want under the hood?

Holding on to it now for a vintage build I have in mind. If I let it go I'll let ya know.

Lee if all things go right it will have the 4.3/700R with all the computer stuff hooked up to it. Nothing fancy but a budget beater that can cruise state to state without any issues. Gas mileage is a plus!

Bed and dog house is off.

I think some grill work will help the looks of that truck. Talk about who ever designed it not having a creative thought that day. Looks like something I would have drawn with my drawing skills.

Re: Rusty, the 53 Dodge

Post by Reb Stew on April 22nd 2015, 3:12 am

I've slowed down to a complete stop. Shut the doors on the shop for a week and after Monday I'll see how I feel. Pulled my joint loose at the elbow. Doc popped it back in place by mistake while doing xrays. Ripped or tore the muscle going from my wrist to my elbow at my elbow and I'm done for a while. Doc says NO work at all with it for 4 to 6 weeks. I didn't listen and I'm paying for it now. Took me over a week to even go after I messed it up. Yea.. not too smart. I have this dog collar looking thing strapped to my arm to keep from ripping it more. Have to ice it every day no heat. It's inflamed and with the meds I already take it will react to the med to get the swelling down so I'm stuck with just the ice pack. It's been swelled up for over a week and seems like it's not going down.. Lucky me. God seen fit to grace me with another arm so I'm not too worried. It is really funny trying to eat with chop sticks with your left hand though.

I'd pay money to see a video of the left handed chop sticks.
