winter

Post by dieseldr on December 24th 2014, 12:43 pm

Now that the winter solstice is upon us, and the shortest day of the year is behind us, I, for one, am looking forward to the days getting longer again. Of course, it will be awhile before it will be noticeable. Anyway, we had a rather cold November here in NY, and our December was actually rather warm.... today we should see temps tickle the 60 degree mark. Had a blast of snow a couple weeks ago, about 8 inches, it;s all gone now, and can stay that way for all I care. January is supposed to come upon us with a vengeance I guess. Cold and snowy from what I hear so far.... stay warm everyone, and keep wishing for spring.

Christmas is almost over so I'm ready for spring. Wishful thinking huh. It's a mud pit around here.

Yep- we are swimming in mud here too- we had frost in the ground a few inches, with the thaw and a week of rain, it has gotten a bit soupy. Fortunately we have the dog trained to roll over on his back when we hold a towel up in front of him. Then we can wipe his feet and belly off to reduce the mud. When he's really muddy we take him to the barn and he will stand there and let us hose him off, then the towel trick when he comes in.

I don't envy you people in the north. Bad enough here in Kentucky. On the day's that are 45 degrees or better, I'm able to play with my projects, but, lower temps than that, it's just too hard to heat my garage. And, we've had some pretty cold weather for the last month or so. ronnie

It's dry here in Northern Ky but just seen pic an hour south with snow on the ground. I hope it stays down that way.

Things tightened back up here with the cold. Lots of below zzero nights. Average temps here now, but will be taking the plunge into subzero again for a few days. So far, this year not as bad as last by a long shot- at least this year we get a few days of relief here and there- last year it was cold in october, and didn't let up till april.

It's been decent here in Pittsburgh but a hundred miles above me it gets cold...

I have all my winter work done and can't wait to try my new fuel system on my 64 Bonneville.

I keep looking at this web site from my favorite car cruise, it tells how many days till it opens.. I
