Wintertime goals...what are they, folks?

Post by Nanook on November 6th 2014, 6:05 pm

It's officially the 'down time' of the season. Time to get to those odds and ends (big and small) so that your project is ready to roll come springtime! What does everyone have that's now on the front burner?

For me it's getting the Corvette running/driving. If it all goes well I hope to turn the key by January if not sooner.

Later,

Lee

Just rest! Enjoy Christmas and what is important, family. Tinker a bit of the cars but no fast builds. Plenty of work to do inside the house when I got time.

Same here, speaking of Christmas. Any plans in the making for a Christmas party?

:Hopefully finally get moved into the house before Christmas, we are only about 5 months behind Sad

I also plan to maybe work on a couple of my tractor projects over Christmas break, looks like I will have at least 12 days off over the holidays. Need to get them running so I can actually move them easier.

Most of my projects will be house related, move- then finish remodel then we have to get a lot of work done on other house so we can have prepped to sell in the spring. My poor old Chevy 4x4 is just rottin' away in the back, no time to work on it. Sad
Gotta spend to much time working on the boy's Bronco..... typical Fords Razz lol!

It's a Ford.... Fix Or Repair Daily, need I say more? haha

replaced muffler/tailpipe Saturday, Still got fix the header exhaust leak.
Windshield still needs replaced.
I replaced those radius arm bushings and brackets, now the caster is so far out they cannot align it. Not sure what happened other than the brackets are stamped wrong and cause the front diffy to bet twisted to much in wrong direction.

Last weekend I finished the chop on the '32 Chevy 5 window I have been working on for a customer.  Now on to some of my projects that have been patiently waiting.  I think I am going to get back on the '56 thirteen-letter-shit-spreader for a while.  Get it fitted to the Dakota chassis and have it driving by spring...

With the cold on the way, the car is covered and waiting for spring. Won't be much project work happening at for except for repairs on the dailys for the next year or so. Hoping to have the house on the market this spring. So every cent will be going toward that.

If this winter continues like this I can see its going to take a toll on me. Spent part of the day removing snow and salting. Now my back is a mess. Not looking forward to this winter at all.

I was working out in the garage on the room, my toes were about froze off. I will be glad when I can finally close it in and shoot some heat in there and work inside.

I didn't even thnk about shoveling snow, it will thaw...eventually. I have 4x4 lol!

I haven't been on here or the computer much at all. Been hard at work on the house. Still waiting for my settlement with my Motorcycle accident. I have been told by my lawyer to keep my on line posting to a minimum. Haven't forgotten about you guys, just trying to keep a low profile and push through this season of life. Did want to update everyone, we have put an offer on a house! It was accepted and now begins the waiting process of inspections etc. Hope to take possession of it in April. Newport house should be for sale in a few weeks.

Can't wait for this weather to break and to be able to get outside!

Re: Wintertime goals...what are they, folks?

Post by Pitts64 on February 18th 2015, 1:43 pm

I have mine all finished, except for ignition and tuning which I can't do until the weather breaks..

New fuel line to carb, all tubing.. I got rid of the butchered up line and have straight 3/8" to my Quadrajet.. I moved the inline filter to the fuel pump.. I slid two layers of clear plastic hose over the tubing to insulate it, looks pretty neat..

New Blaupunkt amp for my 8 track. I wanted to just use the front speaker in the dash, I was able to do this by running the 4x10 speaker off the bridged terminals.. My car has a 462 with glass packs, so stereo is out. Besides, I never cared for stereo in a car, sounds nice when the motor isn't running but going down the road I think mono is better...

Greased the chassis.. My car has no rubber control arm bushings, 28 zerk fittings makes greasing a big job.. One of these days a air grease gun but for now I just use the manual...

I just picked up a vintage Capacitive Discharge Ignition box for my Points distributor.. I hoping I can keep the Packard 440 solid core wires with it..

Don't buy a pneumatic grease gun - JUNK! Spending a lot of time as a flat-rate truck equipment mechanic hammered that point home. If you're going to spend money on a nice tool get the Milwaukee cordless model. Primes every time, no air lines, no wrestling with it. It almost makes lubing enjoyable! Haha. But what it does do is make it tolerable enough that I almost always do it now. My vehicles and anything else with a zerk appreciate it!
