Hey Earl here are the exhaust pics I told you about...

Post by Nanook on July 2nd 2014, 5:41 am

all 3" stainless from Summit Racing. Built by myself (just a wee bit) and my friend Tracey Scott when had his own shop years ago. This was built in '05 and the before pic was as it looked last month.

Here it is after we sanded it down and applied the VHT Flat Aluminum paint. I used their primer and then about 3/4 a can of the paint. It looks great and holds up very well. This would be a terrific choice for your valve covers and to even paint your intake actually. I'll be using this on her headers and on all of my TPI intake and runners. Cool

Thanks but I have to give the credit to my buddy Tracey. He really knows how to put an exhaust together and I learned from him what to do and what to avoid. This was some of the very first welding I ever did but again I only helped out and added my 2 cents during the mock-up stage. It was custom designed for my wife's '85 TA and honestly the car sounds like a radically cammed (or stroked) Mustang when you hear it. With the tips at a 45 degree angle it beats hard on the ground too. Just like the missus likes it LOL! Twisted Evil  I claim the paintwork...all of those years of building models has made me pretty talented with a rattle can or airbrush hahaha! Laughing

He is the lead tech up at Cincy Speed if you have any questions about exhaust work or need it done to a very high quality/expertise level.

Here is a clip of Shelly banging thru 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear last summer...that's Thomas laughing from the ride. That kid of ours loves speed. Cool  Turn it UP!

That TA sounds bad! Thomas reminds me of my grandson kalab, he loves cars and going fast. Nothings as satisfying as hearing a Childs laughter.

I could not agree more...he has an infectious laugh and enjoys being around cars. Cool that Kaleb loves cars too! cheers

I'll pass along your opinion on how the TA sounds. Shelly loves the sound (as do I). Once the heads and cam are done and it gets a dyno tune it will be quite the hot rod.

Steve thanks for putting the video of Thomas on the main page! That really made my day, sir. Been a lousy last 24 hours or so and this made me smile.

Thanks again,

Watching him laugh had me cracking up. Hope it has the same effect on everyone that gets to see it. The power of youth. No worry and everything is in black and white. There are no shades of grey. As adults we could only dream to have it that lucky.

Thanks Marty and Steve! It's his infectious laugh and pure joy that hook ya. He just loves riding around and going fast. He is fascinated wit exhaust pipes as well.

Thanks again, Steve. Shelly told me to tell you 'Thank you' from her as well.

Grateful,

Thomas is a great kid, funny and he's gonna have a heavy lead foot too when he gets older, get's it from his mom  lol!
Wait a minute, he already does have a lead foot, melted the tires off his corvette already!  cheers

Too bad that exhaust wont' fit a Ford Bronco or it might come up missing  geek

Marty, you better bring friends and a lunch if you want that exhaust...it will take peeling it out of Shelly's dead fingers LOL! Laughing  Again, I have to give credit to Tracey on his workmanship and how it sounds. And Skaats sold us the single-chamber Flowmasters at a killer price too.

As for Thomas yes he's a total speed freak. It runs on both sides of the family for him. Shelly has always had a 'hammer down' mentality and I've never been shy to do the same. Plus my mom is that way, my Gram used to drive her uncles moonshine machine (an old Mercury), my dad was a gear head and my great grandfather on my dad's side was a semi-famous motorcycle racer in Europe nearly 100 years ago. So it's in his blood haha! cheers
