freaky day

Post by junkyardjeff on October 27th 2013, 11:47 pm

Mom came up while I was working on the 37 saying a little kitten was caught under the tracker so I went down and looked,it looked like it got its head caught between the body mount and frame so I went back home and grabbed some tools. I pulled the rear bumper cover of and found out it was caught between the body and gas tank so I lowered the tank and someone grabbed the cat when it was able to get loose, dont know how it got there and there were no more around but it was very young so it looks like mom has a new cat.

That is freaky, wonder how it got it's self in there. I was driving home from work one day, at a stop sign the lady behind me starts honking and pointing. I get out and she says "there's a kitten hanging under your truck" I look under and there's a little gray and white kitten hanging from one paw. I tried to grab him but he ran into a sewer drain.

Everyone wants to ride in your cars Chris. Even the cool cats.

Got some bad news on the cat,mom took her to the vet and she has the feline aids so she can not bring her home since she has two other cats. The vet is going to run another test but mom is very upset about this as she was looking forward to having the little cat,the vet said they can probably find it a home with someone that does not have a cat so I hope she does find a good home.

All the strays in Newport we caught had AIDS. It's nuts. They were all put to sleep. It's a big problem.

Feline AIDS? Really? I don't have cats for a long time but I never heard of it.

Newport is full of stray cats. They are wild. If you get to close to one where they can't run they will tear you up. We had to set up 'coon traps to catch them. In one day I caught 7 cats across the street from my house. As soon as I'd set one cage and take the one traps off I'd come back and another would be in there. I had my cages and Code Enforcement had 5 new ones they spent 80 buck a piece on. They are worse than rabbits. We couldn't keep up with them. Anyway all of them tested in a 4 year spam had the feline HIV. After we found out it was that bad we looked into it more. You can see traits of it in cats that have had it for a while. Their legs in the back start to get straight and the body starts getting skinny. Not sure if all cities are having this issue but if you have a cat and you let him/her out and they mate you may be in for a short life with you 9 lives friend.

Oh NO!!! Shocked

Actually, he's supposed to look like that, yep, he is. He's a Cornish rex.
Most peoples' first reation is....."what is wrong with your cat?"
...."nothing, that's just Charlie!"

We had this same issue when we lived in Hamilton in town. Cat's everywhere and people let them just run lose, but yet, I would get fined if I didn't have my dog licensed and in a fenced yard:x
Anyway, they were ruining my porch carpet, my outdoor seat cushions, using my flowerbeds as litter boxes, etc....bought me a live raccoon trap. I traped them, called the pound, they would pick up, next day drop my trap back off. My neighbors hated me, but dog warden told me they are considered wild animals if running lose.

Back to actualy subject, I had a kitten show up at my place a few weeks ago, hopped in Tahoe and headed to my moms. After a few minutes, stupid cat crawled out from under body, guess with a 3" body lift, he had plenty of hiding room. Took him back home, let him out and thankfully disappeared the next day.

yep, he is.
An old coworker of mine gave him to us cause they could not show him anymore, he was too fat at 8#'s:shock:
He is a cool cat and I say that not being a fan of cats, one of most personable cats I've ever been around. He sleeps under the turtle pond heat lamp and if a cat could be gay....it would be him the way he prances around, he is a prima donna! Laughing

Any animal with a personality is cool to me. Some are almost human.

That's strange.. So much for a good vet. What if it would have been your cat you had for years and because of what he said you put it down?

If the test comes back positive they do another test to make sure its right,a cat with that disease can live but can not be around other cats and only be in a one cat home. If this cat would have had it they were going to see if they could find it a home before it got put down.

Jeff they don't live long lives like a healthy cat and I have seen first hand what the end results to the cat is. They have a rough and painful life and vet bills would come out of your pocket. I wouldn't put a cat through that.
