56 ford wagon (possibly courier)

Post by dieseldr on September 25th 2013, 2:04 pm

Got word of a ford wagon the other day, guy is looking to get rid of. I happened to be driving by where it was on a service call, at 50 MPH it looks like a 2 door, and am wondering to myself now if it is a courier. Not a true panel delivery wagon, since it does have back windows and not filler panels. Hope to get out there soon (in a week or two) to get a closer look. Let y'all know how that turns out.

The old junker looked in pretty good shape driving by, I did hear thru the grapevine though that the front frame A frame attachments are rotten- perfect candidate for a front frame transplant.

I'd be more surprised if they weren't rotten. Especially in the land of snow and salt. If you didn't want to clip it that front crossmember is available aftermarket.

Thanks- good to know. Owner assures me it is in outstanding condition, sheet metal-wise, but the A frame attachments are rotten. Someday soon I'll know. You just never know up here in the land of rust and rot, once in a while you do come across something old and nice.

The front crossmember is a know rust issue with those years, that crossmember replacement was the first thing I done to my 55 and a reproduction is made.

I'll get some pics, but I haven't been able to get anything to load to the forum of what I have already. Been working at it for 2 years now off and on.... it really sucks being techno-challenged, and I don't have any kids to load it for me!

I got out and looked 'er over- things that look good from the road at 150 ft and 60 MPH sure take a different turn from 10 feet away....... You could consider it a K-9 unit, "ruff" all over. It definitely isn't worth the price he's asking, and I'm not sure I would live long enough to finish it!
