oh crap

Post by Chris55 on March 30th 2013, 7:19 pm

Well we made it to within 87 miles of the house, and the F350 took a dump. Waiting on 2 tow trucks, one for the truck one for the trailer. New I should have bought a Chevy.

Re: oh crap

Post by Chris55 on March 31st 2013, 5:49 am

Thanks guys, yep glad we were close the tow bill was only $532+$177 affraid for the new tire, because the tow guy didn't know you can't lift a dual axle trailer(that was packed) up on only the rear tires and go 65. I had to stop and show him how to use my big mechanical floor jack, and tell him how to tow a trailer. The guy that came for the truck, brought a tow truck that couldn't even lift my truck. (even though I told them on the phone it was an F350 super crew dually) Kind of funny, I was worried about my little 200,000 mile 5.3 1/2 ton Tahoe making the trip pulling the 55, and it turns out to be the big old Ford that drops out. But at least one of my toys is now here, and all the stuff from the shop so be watching for updates! cheers

Glad you got everything home.
That F-350 doesn't have the 7.3 does it?

Man, what happened to it? That is a bullet proof engine. If it was a 6.0, I would expect it to go down. They are the worst.
I've had two 7.3's. the first had 389k on it before my son totaled it. Had the tranny out three times but never turned a bolt on the motor. The one I have now, I run 20,000 lb tags because of the trailer that is usually hooked to it. 130k and still going strong.
My stepdad has had three. Lunched one by putting regular antifreeze in it but the other two, one truck was wrecked and the other he's still driving. Hauls horses all over the country for hire.
Probably jinxed myself now and it won't even start when I go out. What a Face

It wasn't the 7.3 that gave up the ghost, the trans started puking fluid out of the inspection cover. Have traced it to a leaking front pump seal, guess this is a common problem with these when under hard use, the trans gets to hot, and the fluid pushes the front seal out. Going to install an extra trans cooler, temp gauge, and new seal and hope I didn't hurt it any.

Yep. The trans doesn't surprise me. My first was a 96. The one I have now is an 02 and believe me, they had a hard time convincing me to buy another automatic. Evil or Very Mad
