Re: Arm yourself

Post by Arieldouglas on January 2nd 2013, 8:09 pm

It will take more than just being armed now.
Read On.
The Shotgun

You're sound asleep when you hear a thump outside your bedroom door.

Half-awake, and nearly paralyzed with fear, you hear muffled whispers.

At least two people have broken into your house and are moving your way.

With your heart pumping, you reach down beside your bed and pick up your shotgun.

You rack a shell into the chamber, then inch toward the door and open it...

In the darkness, you make out two shadows.
One holds something that looks like a crowbar.

When the intruder brandishes it as if to strike, you raise the shotgun and fire.

The blast knocks both thugs to the floor.

One writhes and screams while the second man crawls to the front door

and lurches outside.

As you pick up the telephone to call police, you know you're in trouble.

In your country, most guns were outlawed years before,

and the few that are privately owned are so stringently regulated as to make them useless..

Yours was never registered..

Police arrive and inform you

that the second burglar has died.

They arrest you for First Degree Murder

and Illegal Possession of a Firearm.

When you talk to your attorney, he tells you not to worry:

authorities will probably plea the case down to manslaughter.

"What kind of sentence will I get?" you ask.

"Only ten-to-twelve years,"

he replies, as if that's nothing.

"Behave yourself, and you'll be out in seven."

The next day, the shooting is the lead

story in the local newspaper.

Somehow, you're portrayed as an eccentric vigilante while the two men you shot are represented as choirboys.

Their friends and relatives can't find an unkind word to say about them..

Buried deep down in the article, authorities acknowledge that both "victims" have been arrested numerous times.

But the next day's headline says it all:

"Lovable Rogue Son Didn't Deserve to Die."

The thieves have been transformed from career criminals into Robin Hood-type pranksters..

As the days wear on, the story takes wings.

The national media picks it up,

then the international media.
The surviving burglar has become a folk hero.

Your attorney says the thief is preparing to sue you, and he'll probably win.

The media publishes reports that your home has been burglarized several times in the past and

that you've been critical of local police for their lack

of effort in apprehending the suspects.

After the last break-in, you told your neighbor that you would be prepared next time.

The District Attorney uses this to allege

that you were lying in wait for the burglars.

A few months later, you go to trial.

The charges haven't been reduced,

as your lawyer had so confidently predicted.

When you take the stand, your anger at

the injustice of it all works against you..

Prosecutors paint a picture of you

as a mean, vengeful man.

It doesn't take long for the jury to convict you of all charges.

The judge sentences you to life in prison.

This case really happened.

On August 22, 1999, Tony Martin of Emneth, Norfolk , England, killed one burglar and wounded a second.

In April, 2000, he was convicted and is now serving a life term..

How did it become a crime to defend one's own life in the once great British Empire ?

It started with the Pistols Act of 1903.

This seemingly reasonable law forbade selling pistols to minors or felons and

established that handgun sales were to be made only to those who had a license.

The Firearms Act of 1920 expanded licensing to include not only handguns but all firearms except shotguns..

Later laws passed in 1953 and 1967 outlawed the carrying of any weapon by private citizens and

mandated the registration of all shotguns.

Momentum for total handgun confiscation began in earnest after the Hungerford mass shooting in 1987.

Michael Ryan, a mentally disturbed man with a Kalashnikov rifle, walked down the street shooting everyone he saw.
When the smoke cleared, 17 people were dead.

The British public, already de-sensitized by eighty years of "gun control", demanded even tougher restrictions.

(The seizure of all privately owned handguns was the objective even though Ryan used a rifle.)

Nine years later, at Dunblane, Scotland,

Thomas Hamilton used a semi-automatic weapon to murder 16 children and a teacher at a public school.

For many years, the media had portrayed all gun owners as mentally unstable, or worse, criminals.

Now the press had a real kook with which to beat up law-abiding gun owners.

Day after day, week after week, the media gave up all pretense of objectivity and demanded a total ban on all handguns.

The Dunblane Inquiry, a few months later, sealed the fate of the few sidearm's

still owned by private citizens.

During the years in which the British government incrementally took away most gun rights,

the notion that a citizen had the right to armed self-defense came to be seen as vigilantism.

Authorities refused to grant gun licenses to people who were threatened,

claiming that self-defense was no longer considered a reason to own a gun.

Citizens who shot burglars or robbers or rapists were charged while the real criminals were released.

Indeed, after the Martin shooting, a police spokesman was quoted as saying,

"We cannot have people take the law into their own hands."

All of Tony Martin's neighbors had been robbed numerous times,
and several elderly people were severely injured in beatings by young thugs
who had no fear of the consequences.
Martin himself, a collector of antiques,
had seen most of his collection
trashed or stolen by burglars.

When the Dunblane Inquiry ended,
citizens who owned handguns
were given three months to turn them over to local authorities.

Being good British subjects,
most people obeyed the law.
The few who didn't were visited by police
and threatened with ten-year prison sentences if they didn't comply.

Police later bragged that they'd taken
nearly 200,000 handguns from private citizens.

How did the authorities know who had handguns?
The guns had been registered and licensed.
Kind of like cars. Sound familiar?

WAKE UP AMERICA;

THIS IS WHY OUR FOUNDING FATHERS PUT THE SECOND AMENDMENT IN OUR CONSTITUTION.

"...It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds.."
--Samuel Adams

If you think this is important, please share it with everyone you know..

We better wake up, because Obama and the other gunophobs (new word?) is doing this very same thing, over here, if they can get it done.

And there are stupid people in congress and on the street that will go right along with him.

As probably expected, there is more to this story!

Mr, Martin had had previous incidents involving gun play! The boy he killed was 16, it was proven scientificly impossible to have happened the way he said!
The gun he used was a high capacty pump shot gun, illegal in the UK!
The jury was split but he was found guilty of murder, and sentenced to life, which means he would serve minimum of 9 years!
That sentence was appealed and reduced to man slaughter with a 5 year sentence!

Now if you really want to see something interesting, look up gun violence in the UK, compaired to gun violence in the good ol USofA!!

Having said all of this, I AM ARMED!!
And we NEED comprehensive gun legislation!

yes WE should, that freedom of religion thing bothers me...and that speech thing....who can vote too......that 5th thing to, we should beat a confession's out of you as well.....

I think our framers knew what they were doing.....it applies equally today, as it was then....the names changed, but that's about it.........

The Amendment Process
There are essentially two ways spelled out in the Constitution for how to propose an amendment. One has never been used.

The first method is for a bill to pass both houses of the legislature, by a two-thirds majority in each. Once the bill has passed both houses, it goes on to the states. This is the route taken by all current amendments. Because of some long outstanding amendments, such as the 27th, Congress will normally put a time limit (typically seven years) for the bill to be approved as an amendment (for example, see the 21st and 22nd).

The second method prescribed is for a Constitutional Convention to be called by two-thirds of the legislatures of the States, and for that Convention to propose one or more amendments. These amendments are then sent to the states to be approved by three-fourths of the legislatures or conventions. This route has never been taken, and there is discussion in political science circles about just how such a convention would be convened, and what kind of changes it would bring about.

Regardless of which of the two proposal routes is taken, the amendment must be ratified, or approved, by three-fourths of states. There are two ways to do this, too. The text of the amendment may specify whether the bill must be passed by the state legislatures or by a state convention. See the Ratification Convention Page for a discussion of the make up of a convention. Amendments are sent to the legislatures of the states by default. Only one amendment, the 21st, specified a convention. In any case, passage by the legislature or convention is by simple majority

Simple Majority, there is nothing simple in todays times!
We can't get a simple majority on whether taxes should go up or stay the same!
We are broken, and guns won't fix what our problems are!
I own and believe in my right to own guns, my problem is, with weapons designed to kill people as efficiently as possible! I love to shoot, and have hunted my whole life, but NO-ONE needs assault weapons!
I also know some people believe the government is going to take all you're guns and turn you gay, and make you a muslum, and...........
To those people, get a life!!!!!!

Maybe you should move to my block for a year and then see how you feel. Maybe in Over-the-Rhine in Cincy for a year. I think you may change your mind. Criminals don't worry about the laws. You think having bans would stop criminals from keeping an AK-47 next to their door where they are selling 10's of 1000.00's $$$ worth of dope weekly? Outlaw any firearm and only one who will have them are the bad guys. I could tell you stories that would make a bald guy grow hair. It's easy to say we shouldn't when you don't have to deal with criminals on a daily basis.

As for the wording assault rifle...My SKS's are a 1 shot deal. Not full auto. What is so different from a 30 30 or other rifles that would be used for hunting?

Re: Arm yourself

Post by Reb Stew on January 3rd 2013, 8:38 am

You can't have a full auto without all kinds of crap to go through. If you did what they want and wanted one why not. Would I have one? No... I have shot many. If you ask me it's a waste. You spray and pray. It would be great if you had 20 people shooting at you while they are all grouped together but as most of us know that doesn't happen. But if I wanted one and went through the crazy stuff you have to do to legally own one then I should be able to.

I was pinned down one night while working with at least 4 guys taking aim at me. I'm sure there were more. I had two assault rifles and my vest in the trunk plus my side arm on me. I talked my way out of it without ever even pulling my sidearm. The guy closest to me had an old 38 snub 6" away from my gut.

Discipline on when to take deadly force is up to each person to learn. To some it is second nature. To other it's not. I think often about that night. To take one life would have meant to take them all. I wouldn't have had a problem with doing it but my choice to bullshit these crackheads for an hour until Ky State Police made it there was mine. An hour which seemed to be more like 5 hours. Another time I was shot at. The 15 year old kid was about 10' away and missed me by inches. It went into a desk that I was standing in front of. It tossed him off balance and the gun went down. A guy I was with tackled him and got the gun. Again it would have been an easy shot. My hand was on my handle but it never cleared the holster.

While most yuppies live in nice place and work normal jobs not all of us are able to do that. Some people carry a lot of money while they work or need to protect themselves for other reasons. I won't get into the work I do but I won't ever be without a firearm and if I choose to carry a full auto and go through the BS to get one legal then I should be allowed.

They are legal to own, if as Reb says, you go through the hassle to license them. I have a friend that has two 50 cal machine guns and a Browning Automatic Rifle. It seems like it took about a year to get the licenses. He also owns a 20mm rifle. He has had them for over twenty years and all are fully operational. Yet he has restrained himself from killing anyone.

Do you think we should (by law) be able to eat what we want? Red meat is proven not to be heart healthy as white meat. Should we put a ban on everyone eating steak?

Heart attacks from eating greasy foods has more than likely killed more people than machine guns.
