Buy the right bolt and see what it does. Hopefully the threads on the bolt are screwed up but not the ones in the pan. Put the new one in it. fill it up with your oil and then put that clean pan back under the plug. If it leaks the pan will catch it.

Hey Riggs i just got a new carb for the Chevelle and i will have 2 different carbs sitting around. Got a 600 holley and 600 edelbrock. The holley need rebuilt but i have a kit to go with it. Take 50 bucks either way.

howie, ill send u a pm.

ben i didnt even bother with the front of the car yet, i just gotta get a new drain plug the one i bought previously wasnt the right one. im glad that within walking distance is all 3 auto parts store. advance, autozone and oreilys is right at the top of the block prtty much.

without the net here @ the house pics are on hold.

I got the timing back set, got the cap on the grabbd the set of plug wires I had in stock and they must have been for the olds, cause all of them seem either to short or to long so I'm gonna just buy a new set soon was tryen to just get bye with what I had for the time.

gonna work on it some more this weekend prolly saturday.

one very small step forward, got the right oil pan bol and poured oil down in it and it didnt hit the ground like before Smile

Went searching for the alternator bracket I need they only sell a chrome one with the upper bracket for 30 bucks not going to happen.

Did buy one belt though today

i took the plunge and bought that chrome kit, top one wouldnt work, i am begining to think that this alternator is posed. finially went back to the org top mount i had cut up and made to work. went to three different places to get a belt. one belt was extremly to long the other belt was 3 inches to short. finially went somewhere else. alternator is finially back on with the belt in place.... Smile

Must be a day of cars with starting issues, last week she was bumping over with the key today she doesn't have any power at the key switch ? The battery is fresh and charged .......

Took the header off took starter off and to oreilleys starter is perfectly fine come to find out my ground was not grounded good enough

no particuliar order still have to do the following before she hits the streets

tranny filter and fluid, triple check oil, exhaust welded back up or clamped, carb linkage figured out if i have to ill pull carb of cutlass i, driveshaft work still tryen to save a few pennies to have sent out for ujoints and carrier bearing installed.
