Vette in Batavia Ohio

Next to Cornfield Customs on Foundry Rd. Not really my style but you don't hardly ever see these anymore and I don't think I have ever seen one laying in the dirt before.

Just the body. Those are bad for frame rot. Sitting in the dirt I'd say that one has it.

76 was the start of metal panels in the floor, it was to restrict the heat from the exhaust, which did'nt last long..As I think they all came from the factory rusty... 49 was the first year for thw all metal corvette, and 83 was the last year except for the one that they built for Elvis in 62 and that one was stainless...Oh and its in my basement, I never take it out cause it will rust...

Uh, did I miss something? I hope so because Corvette production didn't start until 1953.

Nope it was 49, they were pretty rare back then only movie stars and faith healers where allowed to buy them, but thats all hear say!...Oh and they where actually 4130 chromoly, and coated with pigmented teflon, and sold on the home shoping network.. MAn this thread went crazy quick, here I go killing another one, sorry.. Yes 53 first year production, steel floor panels where introduced in 76 to try to save wieght and act as protection from the cat. converters, or some poo like that and production was halted for 83 so the factory could be moved and re-tooling for the 84 production year, hence there was no actual 83 corvette other than the half of the one over the doors at the plant in Bowling Green... But thats all I really know about those G.M. Corvettes

a little elevator oil and jerrycurl does the trick everytime, you just have to keep it off the dusty roads.. And it does help with the MPG it makes it real slippery in the wind..Ant the stainless ones came with helium in the tires too, thats why they where so fast at the 27 hours of Idaho when Ethel Murrman was behind the tiller!
